Sometimes blood tests results reflect a serious unexpected result which necessitates immediate action.
If the result is available ‘in hours’ the Laboratory will phone the result to the GP Practice who will endeavour to contact you to discuss this further. If the results become available ‘out of hours’ the Laboratory will pass the result to the NHS111 service who will try to contact you.
In rare cases when you cannot be contacted it may require an Emergency Ambulance response to your registered address. This would be for the benefit of your own health as urgent hospital treatment may be required.
